== Pro-Rate First/Last Month Dues ==

 Proposed by :: ClintonEbadi

A member who joins on the next-to-last day of the month has to pay the same amount of dues as someone who joined on the first of the month. The flipside is that you can leave the coop the next-to-last day of the month and avoid a month of dues.

It seems a bit unkind to new members who joined late in the month to dock them a full month of dues. I propose that we at least pro-rate the first month of dues.

I don't think it's important to also require departing members to pay their last weeks of dues. The coop doesn't really exist to make money, so allowing departing members to have a few "free" weeks of service doesn't harm us. Almost all members donate what remains of their balance when departing anyway. Plus it's easy to automate pro-rating a first month of dues and more manual math for the treasurer and departing member to deal for the last month of dues ;)

A place to add possible policy and by law changes

  • We should amend the bylaws to allow for special elections in the middle of an officer's term if they resign or are removed
    • So that would be to remove "and the total number of directors remaining is less than a majority of the number of seats" in Section 305
