Postdoctoral Associate at CSAIL in MIT. My research area includes Distributed Computing and Fault Tolerant Algorithms. I am nominating myself to run for the HCoop board, in part because there simply aren't enough people interested in the job; that is bad for the cooperative.

I do not have any grand ideas for HCoop, but I do have one strong idea that I think is sorely necessary for the smooth functioning of our organization. I would like to establish a reasonable team of admins for running HCoop infrastructure. Currently, our only admin is ClintonEbadi, and he has a lot on his plate. I propose to take some of the routine load off of him by assigning roles to multiple volunteers (myself, included). Over the next year, I propose to have at least three people trained to maintain the HCoop infrastructure so that ClintonEbadi, BtTempleton, and others can focus on building and providing new services for the members. This should help us recruit new members as well. For instance, we can consider having a single installation of Moinmoin, Wordpress Multisite, and other services that are kept up-to-date by the admins and users simply configure them for their own use. Also, since I will be moving to New York City next month, I will be available for site visits as well.
